AIA's new chief distribution officer

Thursday, January 22nd 2026

Jonathan Beale has been appointed as the new Chief Distribution Officer at AIA replacing Angela Busby who left last year.

Beale is responsible for business development across Retail Distribution, Strategic Accounts, Aligned Advice, Corporate Solutions and AIA NZ’s ASB Partnership, as well as Distribution Performance and Supervision.

He brings more than 20 years of financial services experience, spanning senior leadership roles at AMP, Westpac and ASB.

Last year he joined AIA as Head of Strategic Accounts, and in that role has enhanced adviser engagement, deepened key partnerships and supported initiatives that improved customer outcomes.

As General Manager Wealth at ASB, he led advisory distribution, product development, asset management and KiwiSaver, achieving significant business growth and multiple industry accolades. At Tower, he served as Managing Director Partnerships, where he strengthened the insurer’s market presence by securing and expanding key relationships with major financial institutions and corporate partners.

AIA chief executive Nick Stanhope says Beale’s appointment reinforces the organisation’s commitment to trusted relationships and long-term growth.

“Jonathan brings an impressive depth of experience across distribution and partnerships, and we’re thrilled to have him step into this role. He has a proven ability to strengthen relationships, lift performance and deliver outcomes that genuinely support advisers and their clients. His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to grow our presence in the market and build a distribution network that is fit for the future.”
