Asteron Life joins forces with the Gut Foundation as platinum sponsor.

Friday, January 17th 2025

Asteron Life New Zealand has announced its platinum sponsorship of the Gut Foundation for 2025. This partnership supports the foundation’s mission to improve gut health in New Zealand, a country with some of the highest global rates of bowel cancer.

Claire Sutton, Asteron Life executive manager Life Portfolio and new business, highlighted the company’s growing relationship with the foundation. Over the past year, Asteron Life has hosted staff education sessions, sponsored a research intern, and supported the foundation’s gala dinner. Additionally, Gut Foundation chief executive Alice Fitzgerald participated as a keynote speaker at three Asteron Life adviser events in 2024.

Sutton noted the alignment of the Gut Foundation’s goals with Asteron Life’s purpose of being “supporters for life” for customers and advisers.

Grant Willis, Asteron Life executive general manager, emphasised the partnership’s potential to share preventative health knowledge with advisers and customers.

The sponsorship includes funding two scholarships: a 12-month masters scholarship with the Liggins Institute focused on microbiome research and a research scholarship at the University of Otago aimed at advancing understanding of inflammatory bowel disease.

Fitzgerald expressed gratitude for the sponsorship, acknowledging its role in advancing gut health research and education in New Zealand.

"Together, we are making great strides in advancing gut health in New Zealand. As we say at the Gut Foundation, ‘Good sh*t!!’”, she says.
