Stucco houses hit by leaky saga

News rules to prevent more leaking homes requires stucco-clad homes with timber framing to have air gaps and cavities

There is more fall-out from the leaky homes debacle, with new rules being put in place for stucco homes.

The Building Industry Authority says solid plaster-clad (stucco) homes with timber framing must now be built with air gaps and cavities.

The authority says the changes mean that if moisture penetrates the cladding, it has an opportunity to drain or dry before causing damage to the framing.
