Pair liable after flatmate's alleged drug-fuelled rages

Two women who claim they were terrorised by a drug-crazed flatmate are liable for tenancy debts after fleeing the house.

The man became hooked on pure methamphetamine, or P, and turned into "a violent monster", according to the two Christchurch students who did not want to be named.

The pair said the addict, 30, repeatedly threatened to harm them and wreck the house.

They were stunned when property manager Harcourts Accommodation Centre was unable to immediately release them from the fixed-term tenancy – despite their tearful pleas for help.

"After he started taking P he was a totally different person to the person we moved in with," one said.
