Landlords going green

Wednesday, October 07th 2015

It is possible for a landlord to do their bit for the environment, save money on maintenance, and attract a better quality tenant by making some cost-effective green tweaks to a rental property.

Younger tenants are increasingly interested in environmental issues – and they tend to prefer greener purchasing options.

That means younger tenants also see value in a home with lower running costs, The Property Management Company’s Karen Withers told NZ Property Investor magazine.

She said that small, green measures can differentiate a property from a comparable one down the road.

“It shows a real interest in the property and the tenant in it”.

In the latest issue of NZ Property Investor magazine, Withers details 10 easy ways landlords can make a rental property more environmentally friendly.
