Nancy Caiger of the Waikato Property Investors Association was named Landlord of the Year

Caiger is a long term buy and hold investor whose philosophy is to deliver a good product and great service to her tenants. She encourages tenants to treat the house as their home. Her portfolio includes older houses as well as new houses.

With new building projects Nancy finds tenants off the plans and then involves them in the building process allowing them, a large say in choice of cladding and colors, interior colors and kitchen design.

Runners up Bruce and Bernadette Wallis have been investing since 1987. They have a good solid approach to managing their tenancies. Many of their properties have been retro fitted with insulation and some have had heat pumps installed also.

In congratulating the winner and runners up Martin Evens, President of the NZPIF said this annual award gives us the opportunity, to highlight the professionalism of the many members up and down the country who are landlords.  We know people join property investors associations in order to learn how to be better investors and landlords.

The winners of this award demonstrate the high standards which are being achieved.  We very much appreciate the continued support of the Department of Building and Housing in sponsoring this award.
