He was speaking out against the town becoming the main centre for the Rodney District at a council meeting this month on the Orewa Growth Project.

Orewa has been identified as the only sub-regional centre in the Auckland Regional Growth Strategy, and Orewa Growth Project leader Bryce Pomfrett says they plan to look at Orewa's future role.
