Manukau house prices going up and up

Manukau's housing market is booming as prices soar and increasing numbers of new homes are built.

The House Price Index shows Manukau houses rose in value by 11.7 per cent during the year to September. However, Manukau fell short when compared to Auckland City and Waitakere City, which experienced price rises of 17.8 per cent and 20 per cent respectively.

The number of new houses being built is also increasing dramatically. Manukau City Council has issued 2220 building consents in the last four months, a 27 per cent increase on the same period last year. The value of the building consents issued has risen 24 per cent.
