Watchdog wants consumer input in complaint process

A complaints body independent of the Real Estate Institute could be established to handle real estate problems if the Ministry of Justice heeds submissions.

Wednesday, October 15th 2003

Institute chief executive David Russell has asked the ministry to change the disciplinary system to make it more independent from the industry's governing body, the Real Estate Institute.

"To provide credibility, it should be removed from the control of one of the parties likely to be complained about," Russell said in a submission to the ministry.
