Mt Wellington quarry centre of next housing boom

Real estate agencies predict a housing boom for surrounding suburbs with the development of the Mt Wellington quarry.

Wednesday, October 01st 2003

Auckland City Council and owners LandCo have agreed to accommodate about 8000 residents on the 110 hectare site of the former Winstone Aggregates quarry.

Suburban real estate agencies can see only positive aspects of the development.

Chris Swann, manager of the Barfoot and Thompson Panmure office, says it has been experiencing a "fantastic boom" in Mt Wellington and Panmure.

Mr Swann credits much of this to proposed developments at Sylvia Park and the Eastern Corridor.
