The Residential Tenancies Act 1986 (the Act) applies only to the relationship between a tenant and landlord. It does not cover the relationship between property owners, or situations where one of the co-owners lives in the property (unless the parties contract back into the Act). I suggest you seek independent legal advice from your local community law centre concerning your situation.
