Curtain installation

Can you please clarify whether a tenant has the right to remove the existing curtains and replace with their own curtains, without our consent?

Our Experts Answer:

Your tenants are required to keep the property reasonably clean and tidy and to avoid causing any damage to the property or its chattels. The fact that they want to install their own curtains indicates that they are settling in and making it their home. The tenants may not remove your curtains from the property and they must take care of them and prevent damage and mould while in storage. But, as long as they keep your curtains clean and safe and re-install them at the end of their tenancy, I suggest that you haven’t much to worry about.
